Product photography workshop in Cobham, Surrey
On Friday morning I had the pleasure of teaching 8 lovely business owners how to take better photos of the products they create at my Photography for Bloggers workshop. This is the 3rd workshop I have run of this kind (you can see the photos from the other workshops here and here). I took the group through 5 simple steps to take better photos of their products. And only one of the steps actually involves their camera! The other steps are learning all about light, composition and styling which are often more important than the settings you have your camera on. But I did of course show them how to take control of their DSLR cameras and finally get them off auto!
If you’re familiar with my work you’ll know that product photography isn’t what I specialise in, the majority of my work is as a family photographer. However I also need to regularly take photographs of my own products before they go out to my clients. And I don’t want to spend hours photographing each one! So in this workshop I show small business owners how to photograph their own products in a simple but effective way, without making it too technical or complicated.
These business owners run a wonderful variety of businesses http://quotecorner.com/online-pharmacy.html between them. Please check out the fantastic products they create: (from left to right in the photo above)
Gabrielle from The Green Gables
Rachael from Ralph Wettach Caterers
Katie from What Katie did Next
Andrew from Sara Jane Chocolates
Vicky from Victorious Bee
Clara from The Corner House shop in Dorking
Kirsty from Ginger and George
Judith from Dolly Doodles (Judith was off shooting her products when we did the group photo hence why there are only 7 in the photo!)
I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone’s homework from the morning to see how they get on photographing their products in the next few weeks. Here is a lovely bit of feedback about the workshop on one of my feedback forms.
“I’ve had a fantastic morning; it’s been packed full of useful tips and ideas and I can’t wait to put it into action!! Vicki was as fab as I thought she’d be, she really broke it down into manageable chunks and made it interesting.” Katie Levett
I only plan to run one of these workshops a year, so the next one will be at the beginning of next year. If you are interested in attending, please email me on firstname.lastname@example.org so that I can email you details once I have them. Saves you keep having to check back!
